How to use a Maya file for NX (for CNC pantograph purpose)?

+2 votes

Hi NX Community

Our artist uses Maya for 3D modeling and our factory vendor uses Unigraphics for CNC pantograph.  But we couldn't figure out how to convert the Maya file into useable format for the Unigraphics program.

Here is a scenario...

We convert the Maya file into .stl file.  Unigraphics can load and view the 3D models.  But it turns out that the program doesn't allow us to manipulate the files (e.g. change the scale) or convert to Unigraphics format.

Any insight will be appreciated.

Hi Vincent,

My english is not very good. Mesh-based work programs such as Maya and 3DS MAX. It is difficult to edit for datas. .STL datas to come as a meshYou save datas and solid high polygon can edit the file by taking a 3D DXF format output.

But as parametric editing is not possible.

I haven't used maya yet, but i think all graphic software will support **.iges or **.igs format. if you can, please try exporting the file to IGES(Initial Graphics Exchange Specification) format. u can directly open this file form NX
